Road trip
April 11, 2008 buch0090
Just got back from a 8 hour road trip from st paul back to st paul. We intended to go to Fargo area but it was just too frickin crazy out. The trip started being bogged in traffic in minneapolis with a car-sick puppy (lucy).
Then by the time we got past st cloud and drove into the more open plains area of western MN it was pretty much a white out. 35mph winds, 4-6 inches on the ground already, cars in the ditch; we saw one semi completely spun around half in the ditch, and half on top of this fence. The closer we got to Fargo the worse the conditions. And the slower we drove…average speed 30 mph..Normally the total drive is 3.5 hours or so, we were only about half way there in 4.5 hours.
So we headed back and now I’m back at home…Thanks to Lisa for driving! There were probably 20 times we almost slid off the highway but she kept us on the road. Maybe i should finally learn how to drive a manual now?
- This was our second stop at the same McStop in St Cloud on the way home.
- Barely visible taillights of Lisa’s parents’ mini-van
- Radar map of storm after we were home
